On 17 November 2017, the European social partners of the banking sector signed a Joint Declaration on Telework in the European Banking Sector.
They have already agreed to also sign a further joint declaration on digitalisation in the banking sector in 2018.
The declaration sets out with an analysis of the Current Situation for Society and the Banking Sector and then goes on to provide a definition of Telework suitable to the sector.
Under the heading “Work Organisation and Employment Aspects of Telework”, it tackles the terms and conditions under which telework can take place, as well as aspects of Health & Safety, Data Protection & Cybersecurity, Privacy and the use of technical equipment.
Another chapter recalls the importance of the additional need for training of employees to face the new professional tasks and roles.
Finally yet importantly, the important role of Social Dialogue in the joint shaping of future world of work is emphasised.
The social partners commit to the broad promotion and dissemination of this declaration and will actively engage in its implementation.
