French finance unions ramp up pressure on employers in Covid-19 crisis

France’s finance sector unions sent a letter to France’s finance minister calling on him to demand that the French Banking Federation (employers) negotiate a Sectoral Protocol with the unions. The protocol is needed to ensure all sector workers’ rights and conditions are guaranteed (including on adequate health and safety measures and how to define ‘essential’ work), and that they all receive equal treatment sector-wide during the Covid-19 crisis.

FBA-CFDT, FSPBA-CGT, and FEC-FO have been calling for the employers to take a collective approach to the crisis by agreeing to this protocol, but so far without success. The letter reminds the minister of the workers’ continued commitment to offering financial services essential to keeping the economy running, and that their work and commitment will also be crucial in ensuring a return to a healthy economy in the post-crisis period.
