UNI Europa Women’s Committee has supported the conclusions of the Upholding & Strengthening Democracy Conference by releasing a statement, available in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

“Despite several years of well-established and hard-fought equality rights, we are now facing unprecedented threats from far-right populists across Europe whose aim is to denigrate these rights and demote the role of women and minority groups. The UNI Europa Women’s Committee expresses zero tolerance to the dismantling of inclusivity and solidarity by these far-right groups. We will continue to strive for the protection of our democratic rights and will promote awareness of the necessity of equal societies across Europe,” said Carol Scheffer, Chair of the UNI Europa Women’s Committee.

“Democracy, trade unionism & collective bargaining are all under threat, and this is no coincidence as they are linked. They strengthen each other, and if one weakens, the others do too,” added Oliver Roethig, Regional Secretary of UNI Europa.
