Italian trade unions close to an agreement with IKEA over a new company agreement: now the voice goes to workers

Thursday 29 October 2015

After more than three months of intense negotiations that followed the unilateral dismissal of the company agreement and the first national strike of IKEA workers, unions in Italy are close to striking a deal on the different issues at stake, mainly productivity bonus and extra pay for working on Sundays.

The three Italian organisations took notice of the company proposal which now has to be voted for by workers in the 21 stores in Italy.

Most of the provisions of the former company agreement have been retained and new rules have been introduced on extra pay, work organization and the part of the salary that is linked to productivity.

The referendum that will now take place is a key element in a democratic process of workers’ consultation. Results will be disclosed after 15 November 2015.

The IKEA global alliance/UNI Global Union joins FILCAMS, FISASCAT and UILTUCS in wishing that a spirit of social dialogue and good trade union relations with the company will be maintained and promoted in the future.
