UNI Affiliates meet to discuss work in Liberty Global

Wednesday 27 April 2016

Last week, UNI Europa brought together affiliate trade unions from across Europe and the Caribbean to discuss their work around Liberty Global, the American based telecommunications company.

As the company expands its global presence and market share, and an increasing number of unions have members in the company, the meeting provided an important opportunity to share country to country experiences of engagement with Liberty Global. This was particularly useful for Caribbean affiliates BCPOU and AWU, who are awaiting the acquisition of Cable and Wireless Communications, one of the largest telecommunications providers in the region, by Liberty Global. The meeting also provided European trade unions, including ACV-CSC in Belgium, FNV in the Netherlands, Germany’s Ver.di and CWU in the UK, the opportunity to discuss the ongoing SNB negotiations with the company and how UNI affiliates from across Europe can be involved in the EWC process.
