Strong trade unions crucial for effective collective bargaining, says latest UNI Europa Finance Youth Academy

Thursday 12 July 2018

The latest training session of the UNI Europa Finance Youth Academy took place in Krakow, Poland,  from 10 to 12 July, with young, active trade unionists from across Europe’s finance sector coming together to learn about and exchange different national experiences on social dialogue and collective bargaining.

Following an introduction to sectoral social dialogue and collective bargaining trends across Europe, the group held lively and informative debates on the current challenges trade unions face in reaching collective agreements. A full respect for freedom of association, social partner commitment to open and constructive social dialogue, international solidarity and strong trade unions are crucial to secure the best conditions for workers – and young workers in particular, they concluded.

The next Youth Academy session, focusing on promoting and strengthening gender equality in the finance sector, will taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 16-18 October 2018.

The Youth Academy is carried out jointly with the ITC-ILO, and supported by funding from the EU.
