The service sector plays a pivotal role in the European economy, yet it faces mounting challenges in terms of working conditions, collective bargaining coverage, and labour market transformation. The BARSERVICE project responds to the growing need to understand and enhance industrial relations in services, particularly in the context of post-Covid-19 economic shifts.
Led by a consortium of research and social partner organisations, BARSERVICE provides a comprehensive, multi-country analysis of collective bargaining systems in the service sector. It focuses on analysing collective bargaining in the target countries, linked with capacity building activities.
The project has a geographical focus on the following countries:
- Croatia
- Serbia
- Slovakia
- Czechia
- North Macedonia
- Romania
- Turkey
For comparative reasons, some research is also done in France and Italy.
In addition to the analysis, this project will cater for capacity building workshops with affiliates, designed to translate research findings into practical strategies to strengthen bargaining coverage and improve working conditions in services.
