AI systems that enhance human skills rather than replacing them are possible.
We provide companies with a sustainable and clear AI adoption framework.

Generative AI for fair sustainable economies: promoting a human-centred approach in addressing the economic and social impacts of generative AI

The project “Shaping generative AI for a sustainable and fair services economy” aims to enhance the capacity of European social partners and their national member organisations in the audiovisual, banking, and telecommunications sectors to address the economic and social impacts of generative AI.

By promoting a human-centred approach, the project seeks to ensure that AI systems enhance human capabilities rather than replace them, upholding the rights and dignity of workers while providing companies with a clear framework for AI adoption. Further, the project seeks to identify joint strategies and priorities for social dialogue solutions that can support the introduction of generative AI at work in the services sectors.

This project project will include partners under the leadership of EBF, ETNO, UNI Europa, who are European social partner organisations represented in the EU social dialogue committees of the three target sectors. The multi-sectoral approach aims to tackle the common challenges across the services sectors, building synergies to develop social dialogue solutions that can manage change effectively. This approach allows for addressing sector-specific situations while feeding outcomes into cross-sector activities and dialogues.

We will do so by:

  • Conducting sector-specific and horizontal impact assessments to assess the implications of generative AI and to identify social dialogue priorities to address them.
  • Organising three sector-specific workshops to facilitate the exchange of best practice regarding social dialogue and collective bargaining that can amplify positive effects and mitigate risks of the development and deployment of generative AI at work.
  • Hosting a European social dialogue conference to initiate discussions between social partners and EU institutions on regulatory solutions that promote innovation, growth, and quality jobs in the services economy amid the rise of generative AI.
