In the context of our collective bargaining & public procurement work, UNI Europa and ETUC organize a joint event titled: “Strengthening Collective Bargaining through Public Procurement” on the 2nd of May from 11.00 until 15.30.

The event will take place at the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) premises, Avenue des Arts, 46 (Brussels).

This event is of high importance for the ETUC and for UNI Europa, considering the recent adoption of the Directive on Adequate Minimum Wages and the discussions on the revision of the Public Procurement Directives to promote collective bargaining.

During the event, research about How can we use Public Procurement to Strengthen Collective Bargaining? and on the transposition of these aspects of the Directive on Adequate Minimum Wages will be presented and discussed. Thorsten Schulten, Head of Labour and Wage Policy, WSI, and Lord John Hendy QC, who is a leading lawyer in successful trade union rights cases at International and European level will be present to discuss these issues together with the participants.

Also, a political debate on “The Way Forward” with regard to how public procurement rules can support collective bargaining will take place. Members of the European Parliament Dennis Radtke, Agnes Jongerius, Sara Matthieu and Nikolaj Villumsen, as well as Stefan Olsson, Deputy Director-General of DG EMPL, have already confirmed their participation as speakers.

Check out the draft agenda and register to participate here.
