New Study: AI & Automation in Retail

Together with the FES Competence Centre Future of Work, UNI Europa has published a new report titled Artificial Intelligence and Automation in Retail. Benefits, challenges, and implications (a union perspective)autored by Wil Hunt and Steve Rolf , Research Fellows at the Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit) at the University of Sussex.

The aim of the project was to help affiliated trade unions in the Commerce sector get a timely insight into how technological trends are reshaping retail. The impact of Covid-19 is also a focus as well as looking at the role of trade unions in relation to these changes.

The report outlines recent technological developments in retail that are linked to AI and automation and discusses the implications for consumers, retail organisations and – especially – workers and unions.

The report is available in English, French, German and Spanish
